Privacy Policy
Last updated July 16, 2026
This policy explains what Hapjam collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Hapjam helps people discover live music near them; you can browse most of the app without an account.
Information you give us
We collect information you provide directly:
- Account — when you sign in with Google or an email magic-link, we receive your email address and, from Google, your name and profile photo.
- Profile — an optional display name, username, bio, and photo you add.
- Content — reviews, check-ins, follows/saves, and venue or performer listings, claims, and submissions you create, including any images or links you upload.
- Messages — if you contact a performer through the app or email us, we process that message.
- Payments — if you buy a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details. We never see or store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data — basic, largely anonymized analytics (pages viewed, general device/browser, approximate region) via Vercel Analytics, to understand what's used and keep the service reliable.
- Location — only if you tap to share it, your browser sends your approximate location so we can sort listings by distance. It is used in your browser to rank results and is not stored on our servers.
How we use information
- Operate the app: show listings, power the AI concierge, save your follows, and let you post reviews or manage a page.
- Sign you in and keep your session secure.
- Send you what you ask for — magic-link sign-in emails, and, if you follow venues or performers, alerts about who's playing. You can stop these anytime.
- Review and approve venue/performer submissions and ownership claims.
- Prevent abuse, spam, and fraud, and improve the service.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- Publicly, by your choice — your display name, photo, reviews, and public profile are visible to others. Don't post anything you want kept private.
- With service providers that run the app on our behalf (listed below), under agreements that limit their use of it.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety.
- In a business transfer — if the service is acquired, data may transfer as part of that deal.
Service providers we use
- Vercel — hosting and analytics
- Neon — database
- Google — sign-in (OAuth)
- Postmark — sending email
- Mapbox — maps
- Vercel AI Gateway / Anthropic — powering the AI concierge (your questions are processed to generate answers)
- Stripe — payment processing for paid plans
Cookies & local storage
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure admin access, plus your browser's local storage to remember minor preferences (like dismissing the “add to home screen” prompt). We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to run the service. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data, and we will do so except where we must retain certain records (for example, to comply with law or resolve disputes).
Your choices & rights
- Access, correct, or delete your profile from your account settings, or by emailing us.
- Turn off follow alerts at any time; sign-in emails are only sent when you request a link.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights to access, port, or delete your data, or object to certain processing. Email us to exercise them.
Contact us at hello@hapjam.com for any privacy request.
Children
Hapjam isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit access to it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date above, and for material changes we'll provide a more prominent notice.
